“God’s work done in God’s way will never lack God’s supply”
Dr. Robert Lim
It was February 19, 1992 when Iloilo Evangel Family Church sent Bro. Virgilio Fabales and Sis. Lilibeth Panelo in Santoalia, Dao, Antique. They looked for a small house to live in and the following day, they started evangelizing the people.
Oppositions were evident as people behind the backs of the two missionaries. They were told that they could not build a church, hence, would not last long in the ministry.
Fervent prayer and fasting made the couple pursue the “higher calling” they had answered. As a result, five members were born and composed the first congregation. The church music instruments back then were only a guitar and improvised tambourine made of tansan (soda bottle caps).
The members grew to nine, and so did the persecution that they decided to look for another place to hold the Sunday gathering.
After thirteen months, they moved to Barangay Bagumbayan. There they had forty faithful congregations. The church continued to grow in numbers and a blessing for the couple arrived.
In January 10, 1996, Krystle Joy Fabales was born. She brought joy to the couple and also to the church members. Still in her mother’s arms, Krystel was brought to many places as her parents evangelized.
Money and food were a challenge for the family. The owner of the house they used as parsonage and Sunday service venue, also threatened to sell the place, but they never stopped serving the Lord. The Lord saw their hardship and struggles. He never forsook them but blessed them instead.
In 1997, on the fifth year of their service in the mission field, the Lord used a Malaysian mission supporter to provide the land for the couple. Evangel Singapore sent funds for building the church. Church members also contributed and helped built a new parsonage.
During this period, the church produced two more new missionaries in the persons of Rosanica Peraño and Christopher Magbanua. In 1998, after the Shake the Nation III in Mindanao, the pastors were challenged to plant more churches in their town. That same year, the Nuscuban and Igbangakal-B churches were planted. The following years the church continued to plant more churches in Barangay Tagaytay and Barangay Nato in the town of Anini-y.
Moreover, the church house in Barangay Maybato, San Jose has now a new church and the members are growing in numbers. In fact some of them are being trained as leaders.
As of now, the church in Tobias Fornier is under renovation and about to finish. God is so gracious that He provided more musical instruments such as acoustic guitar, drum set, bass guitar, one gun projector, computer, keyboard, speakers, fender amplifier, electric guitar, and portable speaker.
Currently, the church ministry is being expanded. They have several cell groups. The youth are doing evangelisms, follow-ups, one-on-one discipleship and they train more leaders especially in music department.
So far, the main focus of the church is “Soul Winning”; thus, accomplishing the Great Commission which God has entrusted them.
To God be all the glory!
