Evangel Family Church-Cagayan de Oro (EFC-CDO) chose the “more blessed” deed, which is giving instead of receiving, last Christmas holiday. What’s more honorable in this action is that the recipients are little children who can only repay with wide grateful smiles. The Bible says that the one who gives or lends to the poor actually lends to the Lord. God himself will give back to the giver. And since God is such a generous giver, He enables His church to give beyond what it thought possible.
As a result of God’s benevolence to EFC-CDO, 780 kids in various outstation churches enjoyed a hearty Christmas meal through the “Sponsor a Meal” program. Starting December 26, the church distributed packed meals at Barangay Tagoloan, Calaanan, Indahag, Paglaum, Xavier Heights, Paglantaw, Barangay 35, Bugo, Molugan, and Macabalan. The giving even reached up to Bukidnon in Gango and Manolo Fortich. The program culminated at the thanksgiving party of The Kingdom Kids held at EFC-CDO. Another 100 children were fed on this party.
EFC-CDO was overwhelmed at God’s awesome provision when He touched local and overseas members and friends who contributed their finances, time, service and love to these little children. By choosing to bless its community, the church did its role well this Christmas. The happy little children, nonetheless the greatest in God’s kingdom, can attest to that.
