General Santos City — In conjunction with the national celebration of Independence Day on June 12, 2025, the women of JECPP SOCCKSARGEN convened for a significant spiritual gathering under the theme Uswag Nanay, translated as “Rise Up, Mother.” This regional women’s fellowship aimed to inspire spiritual growth, unity, and empowerment among its participants.
The event was marked by vibrant worship sessions, enriching fellowship, and an overwhelming sense of unity among women of faith who traveled from various local churches across the SOCCKSARGEN region. From the commencement of the program, the atmosphere was imbued with enthusiasm, joy, and a profound sense of divine presence. The participants came not only to engage in fellowship but also to experience spiritual renewal, encouragement, and a deeper relationship with God.
A variety of carefully planned activities were conducted to both edify and engage the attendees. Bible games served to reinforce scriptural knowledge while fostering teamwork, offering moments that were both enjoyable and educational. These interactive activities provided the participants with opportunities to engage with the Word of God in a lively and meaningful manner.
A particularly memorable highlight of the program occurred when a senior member from Evangel Family Church (EFC) in General Santos City confidently recited all 66 books of the Bible—from Genesis to Revelation—without hesitation. Her impressive memory and evident passion for Scripture served as a powerful testimony to the enduring impact of a life rooted in God’s Word.
The centerpiece of the event was the preaching of Reverend Rosemin Pontillas, who delivered an inspiring message based on 2 Kings 4:8-12, focusing on the narrative of the Shunammite Woman. Reverend Pontillas underscored three significant attributes exemplified by this woman of faith:
- A Heart to Honor a Servant of God — The Shunammite Woman recognized Elisha as a man of God and extended genuine respect and hospitality towards him.
- An Initiative-Driven Heart — She demonstrated foresight and generosity by preparing a special room for Elisha without being asked, embodying thoughtful and proactive service.
- A Heart of Perseverance Amid Trials — Despite facing personal trials, the Shunammite Woman remained steadfast, refusing to allow her circumstances to diminish her faith.
The message profoundly resonated with the attendees, many of whom found parallels between their own spiritual journeys and that of the Shunammite Woman. Reverend Pontillas’ exhortation inspired reflection and a renewed commitment among the participants to pursue lives marked by purpose, compassion, and unwavering faith.
As the fellowship drew to a close, a solemn and heartfelt atmosphere enveloped the assembly during the final prayer led by Pastora Noime Ligaya, a 75-year-old servant of God. Her life stands as a testament to enduring faith and steadfast service. In her closing prayer, she reminded all present that the call to serve transcends age, background, and life circumstances. Her presence and words left a profound and lasting impression on the hearts of the women.
The Uswag Nanay fellowship emerged as a defining spiritual encounter, honoring mothers and women from diverse backgrounds and equipping them to continue their roles as godly nurturers, intercessors, and courageous leaders within their homes and communities. The gathering not only strengthened the bonds of sisterhood but also reaffirmed the collective mission of rising together in Christ
