Mambayaan, a coastal barangay in Balingasag, Misamis Oriental, represents 3.75 percent of the municipality’s population. According to the 2020 Census, its population was estimated at 2,789. Over the years, this demographic shift has mirrored the barangay’s evolving economic landscape. However, despite the absence of a Christian denomination, Mambayaan’s story is marked by God’s provision, which made the establishment of Evangel Family Church (EFC) Mambayaan a divine reality.

The Birth of EFC Mambayaan

The year 2014 posed significant challenges, yet despite adversity, the desire to honor and glorify God remained unwavering. This devotion became the driving force behind the establishment of the church. In its nascent stages, fellowship gatherings were held in private homes, a temporary solution due to the lack of a designated area for congregational meetings. These humble beginnings, although limited in space, provided the courage to move forward, regardless of the obstacles. In time, this temporary arrangement blossomed into a more enduring church community.

What started as a small group of believers steadily grew, eventually becoming what is now known as Evangel Family Church Mambayaan.

Milestone Moments and Growth

The church celebrated its first anniversary on February 15, 2015, a landmark occasion that was graced by Rev. Andrew Kwong and Rev. Rowena Kwong, whose presence further blessed the event. On this same day, Pastor Brian Calalin, a native of Mambayaan, was formally installed as the church’s shepherd. He was accompanied by his wife, Pastora Nova Calalin, and a dedicated group of members who worked collaboratively to fulfill God’s calling in the barangay. Pastor Brian’s vision for the church, drawn from 1 Samuel 12:24—”Only fear the Lord, and serve Him in truth with all your heart, for consider how great things He has done for you”—was to raise leaders for church planting.

Pastor Brian’s leadership has been a profound influence on the church, propelling its members to pursue a deeper relationship with God and a fervent commitment to His ministry. The church’s daily walk with the Lord has flourished through God’s abundant grace, mercy, and love.
