By: Sis. Shamma Bless Delalamon

General Santos City — In response to the devastating magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck Sarangani on June 8, 2026, with its impact felt across General Santos City and Davao Occidental, Evangel Family Church (EFC) Davao extended compassionate assistance by providing 200 food packs to families affected by the disaster through Evangel Family Church General Santos (EFC Gensan).

The food distribution was conducted on June 28, 2026, at the Phase 1 West Gym in Doña Soledad Phase 1, Labangal, General Santos City, beginning at 11:20 a.m. Motivated by Christ’s love and compassion, the church distributed the donated food packs to families in need, particularly those under the Feeding Ministry. The recipients received the assistance with heartfelt gratitude and great joy.

In addition to the food assistance, financial support was also extended to members and outreach families whose homes sustained partial damage during the earthquake, helping them begin the process of repairing their homes and rebuilding their lives.

The June 8 earthquake deeply affected countless families and individuals. While many experienced damage to their homes, others grieved the loss of loved ones. Although some were spared from physical harm, many continue to face emotional trauma and the uncertainty brought by recurring aftershocks. Despite their different experiences, the disaster served as a powerful reminder of the importance of hope, safety, and a caring community during times of crisis.

More than simply meeting physical needs, this outreach became a tangible expression of God’s love and compassion. Through the generosity of EFC Davao, many families were reminded that they are not alone in their struggles. United as one body in Christ, the church continues to stand together in faith, hope, and love, faithfully serving one another and reflecting God’s grace in every season.
