On May 20, 2026, Evangel Family Church Marahan successfully hosted an uplifting and inspiring Sunday School Teachers Training together with Pastor Albert Poliño Jr., under the shepherding and leadership of Pastor Mivelyn Margate and Pastor Patricio Margate. The whole-day event gathered Sunday school teachers and volunteers from the various churches under EFC Marahan for five meaningful sessions that combined practical teaching methods with spiritual encouragement and renewal.
The training opened with a warm welcome from Pastors Mivelyn and Patricio Margate, who reminded everyone of the church’s vision to nurture healthy, Christ-centered, and child-focused ministries. Throughout the day, Pastor Albert guided the participants through engaging discussions, demonstrations, and group activities that allowed teachers to learn, reflect, and apply the lessons to their own ministries.
One principle that deeply resonated in the hearts of the participants was the simple yet powerful reminder: “Your best ability is your availability.” Teachers were encouraged to understand that being present, patient, and faithful often impacts children more than natural talent or ability. Availability creates trust, models Christlike love, and opens opportunities for children to encounter God through consistent and caring relationships.
The first session focused on The Calling of Teachers, where participants reflected on the spiritual responsibility and privilege of teaching children. They were reminded that teaching is not merely a ministry task, but a calling that requires prayer, dedication, and intentionality.
The second session, Creative Ways to Prepare a Lesson and Discipleship, introduced practical and age-appropriate methods in lesson planning, the use of visual aids, and simple discipleship strategies that help children continue growing in their faith even outside the classroom.
The third session, Sharing the Goodness of the Gospel with Children, emphasized the importance of clearly and lovingly communicating the message of salvation. Teachers were encouraged to use simple words, relatable stories, and thoughtful questions that help children understand God’s love and respond to the Gospel personally.
During the fourth session, Simple Fun Ways to Memorize Verses, participants learned engaging techniques such as games, songs, and movement-based activities that make Scripture memorization enjoyable and effective for children.
The final session, How to Be Effective in Teaching Bible Stories, equipped teachers with practical storytelling techniques including character voices, interactive questioning, and creative narration that bring Bible stories to life and help children apply biblical truths in their daily lives.
After a refreshing midday break, the afternoon sessions focused on hands-on learning and teamwork. Through role-playing activities, storytelling demonstrations, and craft-based applications, teachers gained ready-to-use ideas for their Sunday school classes. The atmosphere throughout the training remained lively, joyful, and encouraging, reminding everyone that children’s ministry is both a great responsibility and a beautiful privilege.
The training also highlighted the importance of acceptance and compassion toward every child. Pastor Albert challenged the teachers to look beyond behavior and labels, recognizing that every child is precious in the eyes of God and capable of spiritual growth when nurtured with patience, love, and encouragement. Practical advice was also shared on sustaining ministry through teamwork with parents and volunteers, maintaining realistic expectations, and caring for one’s spiritual life in order to effectively model faith to the next generation.
By the end of the training, participants from the different EFC Marahan congregations left inspired, strengthened, and equipped with new tools and renewed passion for ministry. More than a skills workshop, the event became a powerful reminder of their calling to guide children into a loving relationship with God and to help shape the next generation of believers.
The organizers also expressed heartfelt gratitude to Rev. Peter Wee and Rev. Christine Wee for allowing Rev. Albert Poliño Jr. to minister and encourage the teachers through the Word of God during the Sunday School Teachers Training. Appreciation was likewise extended to JECPP for its generous support in making the event possible.
Above all, all praises, honor, and glory belong to God alone for the success of the training and for the lives that continue to be touched through children’s ministry.
