By: Sis. Joy Risonar

On January 12, 2025, EFC-Davao officiated the dedication of its newly constructed church building, strategically situated at 16 F-2, 16 G & H, City Jail Drive, Barangay Maa, Davao City. The auspicious occasion commenced with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the building’s main entrance, presided over by Senior Pastor Rev. Peter Wee, accompanied by his spouse, Pastor Christine Wee. The event was further dignified by the presence of Founding Pastor Rev. Dr. Robert Lim and his wife, Rev. Dr. Marion Lim, with the ceremonial proceedings ably assisted by Pastors Jordan and Judith Kintanar.

For a church body that had leased worship spaces for the past 31 years, the acquisition of a dedicated sanctuary represented a profound milestone. As the ribbon was ceremoniously severed, Rev. Peter Wee exhorted the congregation, underscoring that all glory rightfully belongs to God Himself. He poignantly remarked, “Today, we have transitioned to our sixth location here in Maa, and we dedicate this facility solely for the glory of our God.” The congregation, beaming with elation, jubilantly entered the Worship Sanctuary to commence the sacred Sunday service.

Rev. Robert Lim

During the dedication service, Rev. Dr. Robert Lim delivered an impassioned sermon, emphasizing that the physical structure does not constitute the church; rather, it is the collective body of believers. Citing Acts 2:37-47, he exhorted the assembly to remain steadfast in evangelism, bringing souls to salvation so that the church may overflow with new followers of Christ. Reflecting on a letter he had received from Rev. Wee three decades prior, he recalled how Rev.Peter Wee had articulated a divine vision to serve as a missionary and establish a church in Davao City, which at the time was known predominantly as a conflict-ridden region of Mindanao, Philippines.

In consonance with the exhortation delivered by Rev. Dr. Lim, Rev. Wee, during the closing prayer, led the congregation in a collective declaration of their unwavering commitment—pledging to actualize their faith, serve diligently in various ministries, and radiate God’s light through their daily lives.

The momentous occasion was further graced by the presence of representatives from Evangel Singapore, including Bro. Ivan Tan, Raymond Wong, Jerry Choo, Ching Fong, and Chiew Ean. Spiritual leaders such as Rev. Andrew Kwong, Rev. Benjamin Chavez, Rev. Tony Angelias, and Rev. Jetro Novero, along with JECPP Southern Mindanao pastors hailing from Davao del Sur, Davao del Norte, Davao Oriental, Soccsksargen, and the Tribal Sections, also attended in the dedication festivities.

Following the service, the congregation enjoyed a sumptuous buffet lunch, extending the celebration through fellowship and commemorative photography, encapsulating the joyous milestone.

EFC-Davao extends profound gratitude to the individuals and entities instrumental in the success of the dedication service. Special appreciation is accorded to Bro. Dave and Sis. Godeth Domingo for the LED wall installation, lightings, and the sound system. Acknowledgment is also due to Sis. Minda Tamayo, leader of the Functions Department, Sis. Yvonne Pangilinan, leader of the Children’s Church, and the HOF members who diligently managed Sunday School activities. Bro. Michael Barrera, leader of the Vide and Sound Team, and the Worship Team, which rendered a special musical number, also received due commendation.

The realization of this monumental undertaking would not have been possible without the sagacious counsel, fervent prayers, and substantial financial contributions of Rev. Dr. Robert Lim and Rev. Dr. Marion Lim, whose selfless sacrifices significantly bolstered the fundraising efforts. Furthermore, immense gratitude is expressed to EFC Singapore, as well as to Pastor Dale and Pastor Chui, whose magnanimous contributions substantially augmented the building fund. The attainment of this  milestone is undoubtedly a divine miracle, meriting unceasing exaltation to the Almighty.

All are warmly invited to participate in Sunday worship services at 9:30 AM within the newly consecrated church edifice. For further inquiries, contact the church staff at 0917-1551959 or via landline at 082-3217858.
