EFC PALAWAN RETREAT: DISCIPLING TOMORROW’S GENERATION TODAY

By: Arman Ramos and Adara Kristine Porcel

On April 2–4, 2026, Evangel Family Church Palawan successfully held its second retreat, “Discipling Tomorrow’s Generation Today,” at AKC Country Home and Langga Transient House in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan. More than just a gathering, the retreat became a transformative experience designed to equip and inspire participants to embrace a life of true discipleship.

The event opened with a warm and organized registration at Langga Transient House, where participants were welcomed and settled into their accommodations. This was followed by an orientation that clearly outlined the retreat’s vision, schedule, and shared responsibilities—setting the tone for a purposeful and well-structured experience.

The first evening began with a solemn prayer session that created an atmosphere of reverence and anticipation. This transitioned into a powerful time of praise and worship, uniting everyone in heartfelt devotion. The opening session, led by Mr. Arman Ramos, delivered a profound message on “The Lord’s Supper: The Fulfillment of a Prophetic Long Contract.” His teaching explored the connection between the Passover and the Lord’s Supper, emphasizing how Jesus Christ fulfilled the old covenant and established a new one through His sacrifice. More importantly, participants were reminded that salvation is not merely a ritual but a personal decision—calling each individual to examine their hearts, surrender fully, and accept the covenant offered through Christ.

The second day of the retreat began with a time of prayer and worship that prepared the hearts of the participants for another day of spiritual encounter. The morning session, led by Ms. Sharmaine Manlapaz, focused on “The Last Words that Will Shape the Next Generation.” Her message highlighted the seven last words of Jesus on the cross, revealing powerful truths about forgiveness, grace, trust, and victory.

She emphasized that every generation is shaped by something, challenging participants to reflect on what defines their lives. With clarity and conviction, she drew the distinction between crowds and disciples: while crowds gather and consume, disciples commit, grow, and are transformed. Her message served as a call to move beyond passive faith and into a life of intentional discipleship—one that reflects a deep understanding of Christ’s sacrifice and a commitment to live out His Word.

Following the session, the participants shared moments of joy and unity through a group pictorial and fellowship over meals. These simple yet meaningful interactions strengthened relationships and built a sense of community among everyone present.

In the afternoon, participants engaged in an interactive activity titled “Journey of Hope.” This faith-building experience guided them through a series of reflection stations where they were encouraged to confront their dreams, fears, and personal struggles in light of God’s Word. As they journeyed through each station, many opened their hearts and courageously surrendered their burdens to God. The activity became a powerful moment of personal encounter, allowing participants to experience renewal, healing, and a deeper sense of purpose.

The retreat’s final session, led by Pastor Ricky Tamayor, focused on “How to Disciple Tomorrow’s Generation Today.” His message emphasized three key principles: hearing the truth, teaching the truth, and passing the truth on to others. He highlighted that hearing truth is a privilege, teaching truth is a responsibility, and passing truth is a legacy.

Pastor Ricky underscored that discipleship is not limited to words but is demonstrated through a life that reflects God’s truth. This message was clearly evident throughout the retreat, as many young participants actively took part in ministry—leading worship, serving in various roles, and stepping into leadership. It became clear that the next generation is not only being discipled but is already rising to lead and make an impact.

The retreat concluded with a joyful time of fellowship over a shared meal, where laughter, gratitude, and meaningful conversations filled the atmosphere. It was a fitting end to a deeply enriching experience.

As participants prepared to depart on the final day, the impact of the retreat was evident in their renewed passion, strengthened faith, and deeper commitment to God. What began as a simple gathering had become a life-changing journey—one that challenged hearts, built connections, and inspired transformation.

Ultimately, the retreat brought its theme to life: “Discipling Tomorrow’s Generation Today.” It served as a powerful reminder that discipleship is an ongoing calling—one that requires listening to God’s truth, surrendering wholeheartedly, and living it out daily. The lessons learned and the lives touched during these three days will continue to shape and empower a generation committed to walking in faith, purpose, and obedience.
