As the year drew to a close, the Jireh Evangel Church Planting of the Philippines (JECPP) Northern Mindanao pastors, their families, and volunteer church planters convened to commemorate a year of fruitful ministry. The annual year-end gathering, held on December 27, 2024, at Evangel Family Church in Cagayan de Oro City, brought together 60 attendees from churches in Malaybalay, Mambayaan, Lala, and Cagayan de Oro City. This gathering provided a profound moment of reflection, thanksgiving, and renewed commitment to the mission field.
The event bore particular significance, as it marked the return of Pastor Andrew Kwong and Pastor Rowena Kwong, whose absence in the prior year was deeply felt. Their presence infused the gathering with a sense of joy and unity, cultivating a celebratory atmosphere and a spirit of mutual encouragement. It served as a potent reminder of God’s unwavering faithfulness throughout the year.
The gathering commenced with a prayer and worship session that was imbued with the presence of the Holy Spirit, setting the tone for an impactful and transformative celebration. Rev. Andrew Kwong delivered a powerful message entitled “God Calls the Weak to Battle,” which struck a deep chord with those in attendance. His message underscored the biblical truth that God’s power is perfected in human weakness, urging those present to place their full reliance upon Him. The message further emphasized that God’s work flourishes within the context of unity and faith, and reminded the gathered community that His strength is ample for those who trust and serve Him faithfully.
This event was not only a time of spiritual renewal but also a celebration of camaraderie and joy. Attendees engaged in spirited, interactive games that filled the room with laughter and levity. The fellowship continued as personal testimonies of God’s goodness were shared, further fortifying the communal bonds within the church planting network.
In an expression of heartfelt gratitude, Pastor Andrew and Pastor Rowena distributed beautifully wrapped gift boxes, acknowledging the dedication and commitment of all those involved in the ministry. The gathering culminated with a shared meal, brimming with joy and thanksgiving, leaving all in attendance with a renewed sense of purpose and inspiration for the year ahead.
The presence of Pastor Andrew and Pastor Rowena was a profound testimony to God’s faithfulness, serving as an encouragement to the entire JECPP Northern Mindanao family. Their participation in the celebration was regarded as a divine blessing, reinforcing the essential nature of unity and a shared sense of purpose within the ministry.
As the JECPP Northern Mindanao community steps into 2025, the truth remains unshakable: God calls the weak to battle. This calling is not centered upon human strength, but rather upon rising in faith and entrusting one’s self to God’s power to sustain and equip them. With hearts anchored in Christ, the JECPP family is poised to embrace the challenges and opportunities of the new year, confident that He who has called them will continue to empower them to fulfill His mission.
