The tranquil Rio Vida Resort in Tigbauan, Iloilo, became a core of inspiration and growth as young leaders and pastors from the EFC Western Visayas region gathered for the NexGen Retreat 2024, held from October 31 to November 2. Under the theme “Empowered for the Harvest,” the retreat provided a compelling environment where participants could strengthen their faith and prepare for lasting impact in their communities.

The retreat commences with an outpouring of inspiration as Pastora Krystel Bailingo delivered a powerful message that blazed hearts with a vision for the harvest. Drawing from Jesus’ words in Luke 10:1-16, she reminded everyone of their important role as laborers in God’s kingdom. Her message served not only as a call to action but also as a reminder that each participant is chosen and equipped for a significant spiritual harvest.

As the energy and passion grew, Pastora Jalyn Joy Bachoco took the stage, equipping the next generation with practical strategies to ignite transformation in their circles. Anchoring her message in Deuteronomy 31:6, titled “The Waves of the Young People,” she encouraged participants to step out in bold faith, make a positive impact, and persevere through challenges, emphasizing that they are unstoppable when guided by God.

The afternoon was filled with laughter, team-building games, and bonding activities, fostering new friendships and a deep sense of unity. Later that evening, Rev. Benjamin Chavez continued the momentum, drawing from Exodus 3:1-14 to remind everyone that God’s call is not merely a moment but a life-changing invitation to join His mission. Through shared reflections and a hearty meal, the day concluded with full hearts and prepared spirits.

Day two began with an invigorating message from Rev. Virgilio Fabales, who called participants to be set apart for God’s work based on Acts 13:1-2. This reminder to stand out for God opened their hearts to reflect on their unique purposes in His kingdom. Following this, workshops on practical community service strategies empowered participants to turn their visions into action.

The afternoon featured games and open forums, creating an atmosphere of joy and connectedness. Meaningful conversations, laughter, and teamwork led to a deep sense of unity, reinforcing the idea that together, they are stronger than when alone.

As evening approached, Rev. Chavez delivered a passionate message about the transforming power of the Holy Spirit. Drawing from Acts 2, he emphasized that just as the Holy Spirit empowered the disciples, each participant is called to listen to God’s voice and gain courage for their journey. He celebrated the recent ordinations of Rev. Hella Nimes and Rev. Eden Belarga, illustrating that God’s call is both personal and purposeful—a lifelong mission ignited by the Spirit’s fire.

The retreat culminated in a captivating praise jam, uniting everyone in worship and celebration. Uplifting songs, heartfelt prayers, and shared joy in God’s presence reminded participants that they are never alone in their journey, surrounded by a community of faith on a common mission.

As NexGen Retreat 2024 came to a close, every participant left with a renewed purpose—to make a difference. Inspired by three days of powerful messages, deep discussions, and moments of growth, they departed with a shared vision to transform their communities. Fueled by faith and empowered by the Spirit, these young leaders are ready to answer the call and bring meaningful change wherever they go.
